Parkway construction to begin in spring

By JAMIE PATTERSON
Managing Editor

City leaders will pursue a bond to tie up all the loose ends for the Willie Morris Parkway.
The Board of Mayor and Alderman approved the resolution for a $3 million general obligation bond, which would aid in the finances of the upcoming parkway construction.
Mayor McArthur Straughter told The Yazoo Herald on Tuesday morning that he is very excited that all the financial obligations are coming together for this extremely important project.
Straughter said the only step left to take is sending the necessary paperwork to the Mississippi Development Authority, requesting a memorandum of understanding for its $3.3 million toward the project.
“The funds are in place,” Straughter said. “Now it’s just the matter of getting MDA’s funding in place.”
