Remembering my own homecoming

Taylor Mitchell Sports Editor Taylor Mitchell Sports EditorWith Manchester and Benton Academies celebrating their homecoming yesterday and Yazoo County and City High Schools having theirs two weeks ago, my own personal memories of homecoming came rushing back to me.
Before continuing, my high school homecoming was drastically different than the homecomings in the Mississippi Delta. For starters, there was no parade. There was a queen and a king (usually the best football player). One year, we had a television crew come out to our school’s homecoming pep rally at 7 a.m.
No matter what the differences in my homecoming and your homecoming are, the importance of the festivities isn’t lost.
For me, personally, homecoming was not that big of a deal. However, for others it was and, now that I’m older and wiser (insert laughs here), I realize that homecoming should be important.
