Man remains in hospital after being struck by car

By JAMIE PATTERSON
Managing Editor

A 19-year-old remains in stable condition after being struck by a vehicle Monday evening.
Maj. Larry Davis said the young man was riding his bicycle down the hill on 12th Street when he was involved in an accident around 7:20 p.m.
“Either his brakes went out, or he ran the stop sign at the bottom of the hill,” Davis said. “He came out onto Grady Avenue and was hit by a car.”
Davis said no charges were filed.
“It was clearly an accident,” he said. “It doesn’t look like the driver was drunk or speeding. I don’t see where any charges could be brought.”
The victim was airlifted to a Jackson hospital shortly after the accident. He was listed in stable condition in a private room as of press time.
