The Yazoo Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution held the first meeting of the Chapter Year 2011-2012 at 2 p.m. Sept. 15, 2011 in the country home of Dr. and Mrs. Marion Sigrest.
This meeting was the occasion of the Annual Meeting of Yazoo Chapter. The meeting was called to order by Chapter Regent JoAnne Collins.
Following the Ritual, Pledge of Allegiance, American’s Creed and Star Spangled Banner, the business meeting was conducted which included officer and committee reports. Dues were paid and Yearbooks passed out.
Members were reminded of Fall Pilgrimage dates, September 30 through October 14 and urged to choose a day to receive at Rosalie. Rosalie Day will be held at Rosalie October 26-27 and members were given information for registration.
Mrs. Collins thanked members for everything that was done to make our 9-11 event successful.
Janet Whittington, Wendy Cartwright and Priscilla Harper shared their experiences while at Continental Congress in June.
Mrs. Collins presented a program on the Dedication of the Chickasaw Warrior Statue which was held at Bacone College, Muskogee, Okla. this past May. Bacone College is one of the Indian schools which NSDAR supports.
Refreshments were served by hostesses Sarastelle Sigrest, Barbara McGrath and Janet Whittington and the meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting will be at 2 p.m. October 20 at Trinity Episcopal Church. Members are asked to bring items to pack boxes for soldiers and lap robes for the Veterans project.
