Last Friday night, the Manchester Academy football team defeated Carroll Academy, 34-33, in thrilling fashion. While it wasn’t a district game for the Mavericks, the game held special meaning to at least one person on the Manchester sideline.
For Mavericks head coach Benny McLendon, the victory was his 100th as a football coach.
“I’ve had a lot of good kids to coach over the years,” McLendon said. “I was fortunate to come to a school that gave me a chance to win. I’ve been fortunate enough to have some great assistant coaches.
