The April 24 storm that ripped through Yazoo County claimed four lives and destroyed hundreds of homes. It also destroyed 15 local businesses. In this five-part series, we’ll take a look at some Yazoo businesses on the road to recovery.
Ribeyes owner Mitchell Saxton had been wanting to do some renovations to his restaurant for some time.
On April 24 Mother Nature took care of the demolition portion for him, but it wasn’t the kind of remodeling he was looking for.
After watching a big screen television fly across the room, Saxton took cover inside the walk-in cooler in the kitchen just before the roof came crashing in.
“I’ve always heard it sounds like a train,” Saxton said shortly after the storm hit. “Well, it sounded like they had just built some train tracks across the Four Points intersection, and it was headed right for us.”
