Suspects caught looting at home of flood victims

By JASON PATTERSON
Editor & Publisher

An observant neighbor helped catch a pair of suspects from attempting to steal from flood victims on Whites Lane this week.
Sheriff Thomas Vaughan said a resident saw Keith Roland, 18, and Walter Lee Young, 18, both of 925 Grady Ave., loading items at a flood-damaged home.
“The neighbor blocked their vehicle in so they couldn’t leave, and called us,” Vaughan said. “Another resident also came and helped block them in.”
Deputies quickly arrived to make the arrest.
Both suspects are charged with grand larcey. Justice Court Judge Pam May set bond at $10,000 each.
Vaughan, who made protecting flooded homes a priority, said this was a classic case of neighbors helping neighbors.-------for the rest of the story see The Yazoo Herald printed edition or subscribe to the Digital Edition.----------
