With their church's rebuilding duties behind them, the three ladies stood outside Peter's Chapel A.M.E. Church pondering a solution to the latest construction problem: how to prevent ladies' spike heels from getting caught between the planks on the floor at the church's front entrance.
Shirley Robinson, a 30-year-plus member of Peter's Chapel, suggested using concrete to fill in the spaces between the planks as Zelma Gray and the Rev. Dr. Carolyn Denson discussed the possibility of using wooden strips to fill in the gaps.
The three agreed that a solution is urgent since parishioners, like it or not, will continue wearing spike heels.
With finishing touches being put on the church located at 2890 Fouche Pit Road in Benton, the church's approximately 20 members are eagerly looking forward to the new building's Sept. 11 dedication. Denson said visitors from the church conference's eighth district are slated to attend the 3 p.m. ceremony. -------for the rest of the story see The Yazoo Herald printed edition or subscribe to the Digital Edition.----------
