Schools submit tax levy of 5.93 mills to city board
By JAMIE PATTERSON
Things got heated among city leaders and school officials this week after a lengthy discussion about the possibility of a tax increase.
The Yazoo City Municipal School district submitted a tax levy proposal in the amount of 5.93 mills to the Board of Mayor and Alderman. The city board invited school officials to a work session Friday afternoon to discuss the matter.
By law, the city has to grant the district its request. But city leaders were not too happy about it. -------for the rest of the story see The Yazoo Herald printed edition or subscribe to the Digital Edition.----------
