PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
Yazoo City is considering applying to the Mississippi Development Authority Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME) Grant of up to $500,000. The State of Mississippi has been allocated approximately $13.7 million that will be made available to cities, counties, CHDOs, and PHAs on a competitive basis to undertake eligible housing activities. These funds must be used for one of the
following housing activities:
1. Homeowner Rehabilitation;
2. New Construction of Rental Units;
3. Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO); and
4. Homebuyers Assistance.
The activities for which these funds may be used are in the areas of expanding the supply of decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable housing for very low-income and low-income persons. Yazoo City Board of Alderpersons is considering a homeowner rehabilitation.
More specific details regarding eligible activities, program requirements, and the rating systems for
this grant program plus status and performance reports on the existing CDBG/HOME projects will
be provided at a public hearing which will be held at the Yazoo City Police Station-Courtroom on
Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. The purpose of this hearing will be to obtain citizen input into the development of the applications. Written comments will be accepted until September 5th, 2011 at Yazoo City Hall, ATTN: Mayor’s Office, P.O. Box 689, Yazoo City, Mississippi 39194.
