City stumped by insurance woes, possible lapse

By VERNON SIKES
For the Herald

When it came time for city officials to consider insurance proposals during Monday's meeting of the Yazoo City Board of Mayor and Aldermen, there was a noticeable pause.
There were no insurance representatives there to make their pitches.
City Clerk Shirley Knight advised the council of the problem due to the no-shows: as of midnight Monday, the city's properties, including buildings and vehicles, were uninsured.
“I had one (underwriter) call me and say they were still working on theirs and they weren't sure they could get here today,” Knight said. -------for the rest of the story see The Yazoo Herald printed edition or subscribe to the Digital Edition.----------
