A lot of things have changed in 50 years in Yazoo, but one thing that hasn’t is that Stub’s has always been among the city’s most popular restaurants.
It was 50 years ago last week that Bentonia sisters Lucille and Mary Thomas Stubblefield opened Stub’s next to the old Yazoo Motel in the Four Points area.
Stub’s quickly became a Yazoo favorite, and continued to grow when Jack and Alease Fagan purchased the restaurant from the Stubblefields in 1978. The Fagans moved to Yazoo City from Birmingham, Ala.
“Jack and Alease Fagan were wonderful people,” said Bobbie Sue Stevens. “I worked for them for a short while, and so did my mother. They were very fun to work for, and I will never forget my experience working for them at Stub’s.” -------for the rest of the story see The Yazoo Herald printed edition or subscribe to the Digital Edition.----------
