Yazoo County was recognized as a StormReady community this week by the National Weather Service.
But with the speedy response time and quick action Yazooans took with two tornados and a historic flood, it wasn’t a surprise the recognition arrived.
“Yazoo County has worked hard over the past several years to become StormReady,” said Mississipi Emergency Management Agency Director Mike Womack. “I hope all our counties and communities will follow their example and take the steps to become StormReady.”
With Yazoo County the newest addition, there are 37 StormReady designations in Mississippi. Those designations include 15 cities or towns, 19 counties, two state universities and one government site. -------for the rest of the story see The Yazoo Herald printed edition or subscribe to the Digital Edition.----------
