Brent prevails in second special election

After a contentious counting of affidavit ballots, Aubry Brent Jr. was declared the winner of the Ward 4 special election.
Brent received 358 votes to Williams’ 324.
Williams said that she believes there are plenty of grounds to challenge this election, but she will not do so.
“There will be no challenge, and I will not run again because what I experienced in this election was ridiculous,” Williams said. “I experienced a person in City Hall who lied about me because of their incompetence. I experienced an election commissioner who was biased for my opponent, and I know that an election commissioner went back into the box last time after Mr. Brent had conceded the election. The seal was tampered with on the box and the voter registration books were removed. A commissioner was allowed to open a ballot.”
Williams said Brent had the unfair advantage of using city workers to campaign for him.
