CLAUDINE DAVIS
Claudine G. Davis, 76, died Tuesday, July 21, 2011 at University Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were Friday at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Joseph Luby and Rev. Arlie Francis officiating. Burial followed at the Midway Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davis was born Sept. 7, 1934 in Yazoo County to Jesse and Ouida Eldridge Guthrie. She was a homemaker and a member of Midway Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, George Davis of Benton; son, Mike Davis (Ellen) of Benton; three daughters, Vicki Steele of Yazoo City, Joe Luby (Harvey) of Madison and Janet Ward (Glenn) of Vicksburg; a brother, Jesse Guthrie Jr. of Benton; two sisters, Claudia Saxton of Clinton and Carlee Berry of Clinton; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were John Robert Ward, Tracy Stark, Brad Oberhousen, Grant Mayfield, Jordan Davis, Rick Elam and Matt Edgar.
Honorary pallbearers were Ricky Saxton, James “Bubba” Berry, Henry Wade, Tim Luby and the members of the Supper Club.

LOUVELLA GRAY
Louvella Armstrong Gray, 87, died June 20, 2011.
Funeral services were Saturday at Promise Land Baptist Church in Thornton with Rev. Henry Pittman officiating. Burial followed at Bethlehem Church Cemetery in Thornton under the direction of Shaffer & Collins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gray was born Jan. 16, 1924 in Holmes County to June and Ellen Armstrong. She was the youngest of five children. She was a member of Promise Land M.B. Church, where she served as a Mother until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by two children, L.C. Gray and Nathaniel Gray.
Survivors include her children, Rev. C.B. Davenport (Boak), Booker T. Gray and Mattie Williams (Thomas), all of Grand Rapids, Mich., Betty Jones (Percy) of Tchula, Mary Gray of Flora, Michael Davenport (Heidi) of Cincinnati, Willie Gray, Annie Gray, Velma Gray and Arene Gray all of Milwaukee; 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Wesley Armstrong, Roosevelt Miles, James Green, Eddie Green, Julius Armstrong and Jethel Armstrong.
Honorary pallbearers were Rev. C.B. Davenport, Booker T. Gray, Willie Gray, Suriya Davenport, Michael Davenport and Sheldon Gray.

JB WILLIAMS Jr.
Jennings Bryan “JB” Williams Jr., 86, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011, in Lake Charles , La.   
Funeral services were Tuesday at Glenwood Cemetery. Burial followed under the direction of Strickland King Funeral Home.
Mr. Williams was born to Jennings Bryan Williams and Leonora Owsley Fly Williams in Yazoo City  on October 6, 1924.  He met his lifetime sweetheart, Mary Virginia Hardy, when she moved to Yazoo City in the 8th grade. They were together until she passed away eight months ago. He graduated Yazoo City High School in 1942. He attended Mississippi State University and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering.  
He married Mary Virginia Hardy on August 23, 1946 and soon joined his father in the firm that would become Williams, Williams, and Clark Consulting Engineers.    He provided civil engineering services to many cities and counties across the Delta for decades, and the firm continues on as Williams, Clark and Morrison.  Two of his favorite projects in Yazoo City were the sewage treatment plant and the airport.  As he always said “it may be sewage and sludge to you, but it is my bread and butter.”  He was very interested in the recent flooding, and from reports of the river level he knew where the problem areas would be and what would be safe.
He raised four sons, all of whom attained the rank of Eagle Scout.  He enjoyed reading, traveling, raising vegetables, and watching football.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, his parents and two sons, Jennings Bryan Williams III and John Hardy Williams.  He is survived by his sons David Owsley Williams and wife Margaret of Houston, Texas, and Frank Guthrie Williams and wife Heather of Lake Charles, La., grandchildren Robin Williams of Sugarland, Texas, and John and Bethany Williams of Lake Charles, La.
