William Chandler

Willliam R. Chandler, 82, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Funeral services were Friday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Gallagher officiating. Burial followed at Bolton Cemetery.
Mr. Chandler was born Jan. 29, 1929 in Yalobusha County to William and Martha Edwards Chandler. He was a retired printer and a member of Bolton Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Forehand and Marion Michelle Chandler, both of Yazoo City; a son, Donald Grady Chandler of Hammond, La.; and a grandchild.

Billy Goolsby Sr.

Billy Goolsby Sr., 80, of Gautier died Sunday May 8, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed playing sports, hunting , and fishing.
Mr. Goolsby was born on February 25, 1931 in Canton, MS to the late Bryant George and Hattie Walley Goolsby. He married Rosaline Hill in Canton on October 9, 1949. He attended Canton High School where he was a standout basketball player. Billy served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He was a Federal Deputy Game Warden and devoted much of his time as a volunteer Boy Scout Leader and basketball coach.  He came from a long line of farmers and spent many years of his life in Yazoo County raising soy beans before retiring and moving to Gautier, MS
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rosaline Hill Goolsby; three daughters, Billie Rose (Steve) Frossard of Marion, IN, Jackie (Dr. William) McKell of Gautier, MS, and Becky Goolsby of Gautier, MS; one son, Bill Goolsby Jr. of Gautier, MS; three grandchildren, Michael Frossard of Erie, PA, Brent Frossard of West Lafayette, IN, and Blair Ewing of Satartia, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryant George and Hattie Walley Goolsby, seven brothers, two sisters, and one son, Michael Hill Goolsby.

JESSIE LEWIS

Jessie B. Lewis, 74, died Monday, May 30, 2011 at home.
Funeral services were Tuesday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Lynch officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mr. Lewis was born Dec. 9, 1936 in Yazoo County to Willie J. and Lutra Mansfield Lewis. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired plant manager for the Federal Compress and a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Lewis of Yazoo City; three sons, Bill Lewis (Elizabeth) of Jackson, Tenn., Ronnie Lewis (Angelia) of Yazoo City and Russell Lewis (Diane) of Yazoo City; four grandsons, Blake Parker of Yazoo City, Brian Pigg of Yazoo City, Jonathan Boone of Petal, Wesley Glidewell of Jackson, Tenn;  granddaughters, Melissa Boone of Petal, Hope Glidewell of Jackson, Tenn. and Marie Lewis of Yazoo City and Jessie Lewis of Yazoo City; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Boone of Petal; brother, Billy Lewis of Brandon; and a sister, Ada Mae Martin of Vicksburg.
Serving as pallbearers were Chuck Hanna, Jeff Carpenter, James Douglas, Carl Pettigrew, Viven Douglas and Wesley Glidewell.
