EVA JONES

Eva Mae Collier Jones, 70, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at her home in Yazoo City.
Funeral services are today at the Church of God of Prophecy. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Ms. Jones was born on February 17, 1941 in Choctaw County to Burnice G. Collier Sr. and Minne Rae Collier. She was a retired Registered Nurse for the Warren-Yazoo Mental Health Center and the first female coroner for Yazoo County. She was devoted to her church, family, and friends. She attended the Church of God of Prophecy where she was a Sunday school teacher, bookkeeper and member of the choir. She loved drinking coffee with her friends, creating beautiful crochet blankets and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burnice “Shorty” and Minnie Collier and sister, Josephine Jennings.
Survivors include her son, Jamie Jones (Renee’); two sisters, Mary Alice Barentine of Yazoo City and Erma Jean Tedford of El Dorado, Ark.; two brothers, Burney and Lee Collier of Cleveland; and two grandchildren, Hannah and Cole of Wylie, Texas.  
Serving as pallbearers were Tim Lawless, Ricky Shivers, Elvis Lee Jennings, Tony Parker, Kevin Helton and Micheal Jennings.
