Local Hero Remembered
Special to The HeraldOn a recent trip to Normandy and other World War II battlefield sites, Bob Bailey, along with a small group of men, visited Landesacq, France where Carter native William Coleman was remembered by the town's people for his ultimate sacrifice for freedom. The group left a memorial on the site at Landesacq and gave copies of the November 2010 issue of The Yazoo Herald that featured William Coleman and the memorial set up by the appreciative French people of Landesacq. Pictured with Bailey is a man who helped dig up the engine that was used at the memorial site.
