River crests in Yazoo County, water begins to slowly recede
By JASON PATTERSON
The Yazoo River reached its crest at 38.69 feet Monday.
Now homeowners in the flood zone anxiously wait while the water begins its slow descent.
“The water will continue to slowly fall, but it will be a long process,” said Bernice McGinnis, Yazoo County Emergency Management director. “Many roads remain closed.”
Sheriff Thomas Vaughan said homeowners are being allowed to check on their property if they show identification proving they live in the affected area. -------for the rest of the story see The Yazoo Herald printed edition or subscribe to the Digital Edition.----------
