JAMES FOSTER
James C. Foster, 63, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at University Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were Friday at Concord Cemetery with Rev. Richard Jennings officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Foster was born Dec. 11, 1927 in Yazoo County to Frank W. and Frances L. Germany Foster. He was a security guard and a Baptist.
Survivors include two sisters, Annie Mae Grantham of Yazoo City and Dorothy Sanders of Vicksburg.
PAUL GUTHRIE
Paul L. Guthrie, 73, of Laurel died Friday, May 6, 2011 at home.
Funeral services were Sunday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Cresswell officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Guthrie was born Nov. 11, 1937 in Yazoo County to Emmett F. and Mamie Davis Guthrie. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a retired employee of Southern Bag Corp. and a Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Moore of Birmingham, Ala.; and a brother, Emmett Guthrie Jr. (Betty) of Laurel.
RICHARD MORRIS
Richard “R.C.” Morris, 70, died Tuesday, April 16, 2011 at King’s Daughters Hospital.
Funeral services were Saturday at the Century Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Freeman officiating.
Mr. Morris was born March 24, 1941 to Elder Samuel and Louise Morris. He was a parts technician for Sears. He lived in Kansas City, Mo. for 40 years. After retiring he moved back home to Yazoo City.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Yvonne Higgs-Morris; and siblings, Elnease Morton, Ivy Morris, Alex Morris, Samuel Morris Jr. and Louise Rash.
Survivors include his children, Raymond Morris, Jennifer Morris, Karen Morris and Deishe Morris, all of Kansas City; a brother, Percy Morris (Shirley) of Flint, Mich.; sisters, Susie Paige of Nashville, Tenn., Betty Smith (Willie) of Yazoo City and Bernice Golden (Fred) of Hot Springs, Ark.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
BESSIE WEATHERLY
Bessie Louise Weatherly, 92, died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at home.
Funeral services were Monday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. D.J. Speckner officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Weatherly was born Feb. 23, 1919 in Drew to James Robert Wood and Velma Louis Caulder Wood. She was a homemaker and a member of Westwood Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Erby Leon Weatherly and a son, Robert Walter “Son” Weatherly.
Survivors include three daughters, Faye Goldman of Bentonia, Joyce Osborn of Bentonia and Wilma Cook of Boone, N.C.; a son, Leon “Buddy” Weatherly of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Violet Moxley of Yackenville, N.C.; a brother, Millard Woods of Mathison; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Keith Osborn, Mackey McGraw, Ashley Thrasher, David Osborn, Keith Passons and Bubba King.
