Longtime coach Dodd inducted into MVSU Athletic Hall of Fame
William Dodd, a former coach and educator in Yazoo County for 35 years was recently inducted into the Mississippi Valley State University Athletic Hall of Fame at a ceremony in April.
āIām still pinching myself,ā said Dodd who was really surprised when he was selected to join the 2010 class for his career on the hardwood in Itta Bena.
Dodd joins an elite group of athletes and coaches including Jerry Rice, Willie Totton and Archie Cooley.
The four-year letter winner and All-American averaged 18.6 points a game for the Devils. Dodd had high hopes of possibly playing professional basketball, only to be drafted into the United States Army and serve two years of active duty before graduating in 1968.
