First Lady Marsha Barbour urges Yazoo County residents in the path of the coming flood not to take any chances.
“The height may vary from what’s being predicted, but it’s coming,” Barbour said, during a public meeting Thursday.
Floodwaters are expected to reach more than a foot beyond the top of the Yazoo Backwater levee, flooding hundreds of thousands of acres from Rolling Fork to Vicksburg to the hills of Yazoo County. Officials say that anyone who was flooded in 2008 can expect water more than six feet higher this time.
