As Yazoo waits for the coming flood, many keep their eyes on the levees.
A few remain in their homes, praying the water may not reach them. Others are packing their lives into whatever they can find to leave for safety. And some are waiting for word on where to go for safety, unsure of what to expect.
Regardless of the situation, they all know one thing – the water is coming.
“Right now, you can’t see the water,” said Barney Holt, looking out over a field. “But it’s coming. There is no doubt about it.”
Many residents have been on edge over the last week with the news that half of Yazoo County will be under water soon. Although several reports and meetings have been held with predictions, urgency has struck with many as they brace for the flood.
