ALICE HILL
Alice Mae Hill, 89, died April 23, 2011 at Oasis Health & Rehabilitation.
Funeral services were Saturday at King Solomon M.B. Church with Rev. Benjamin Hall Jr. officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer & Collins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hill was born Feb. 6, 1922 in Holmes County.
Survivors include a son, Noble Brooks Sr. of Yazoo City; three brothers, James Hill (Addiel) of Kansas City, Robert L. Smart (Gussie) of Pickens and Anthony Smart Jr. of Chicago; and three special nieces Lela Mae Martin of Chicago, and Gloriacean Knight and Susie Hill Epps, both of Yazoo City.
NORMAN McLEAN
Norman Murray McLean, 83, died Thursday, April 28, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral services were Saturday at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lexington. Burial followed under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
Mr. McLean was the son of Henry C. and Albert Malone McLean. He was a self-employed carpenter and a Baptist.
Survivors include his sister, Lorine Copeland of Pascagoula and several nieces and nephews.
RUTH McMANAWAY
Ruth Sharon McManaway, 68, died Thursday, April 28, 2011.
Funeral services are today at 10 a.m. at the Vancleave Family Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Burial will follow under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. McManaway was born Jan. 23, 1943 to Linda (Criswell) and John Van Cleave in Yazoo City. She married Cletis "Mac" McManaway. They were married for 51 years. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Linda; brothers, Pete, John Jr., and Wayne; and sisters, Virginia and Maryann.
Survivors include her husband, Mac of Abilene; two brothers, Gene and Nate, both of Yazoo City, ; and two sisters, Pat of San Antonio, Texas and Gayle of Yazoo City, Mississippi.
JIMMY MOTEN Sr.
Jimmy Lee Moten Sr., 77, died April 21, 2011 at Forest Hill Nursing Home.
Funeral services were April 28 at Old Liberty M.B. Church with Rev. Willie Richardson Jr. officiating. Burial followed at Days Cemetery in Bentonia under the direction of Shaffer & Collins Funeral Home.
Mr. Moten was born Feb. 6, 1934 in Bentonia. He was a night watchman.
Survivors include five daughters, Sylvia J. Wallace (George Jr.), Lucille L. Dukes, Carla A. Collins, Linda F. Moten and Katrina L. Moten; a son, Jimmy Lee Moten Jr. (Pamela); brothers, Essie Shaffer (Ora) of Memphis, Tenn., and Booker T. Moten (Shirley) and James E. Moten, both of Columbus, Ohio; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
