“This was a pretty good season for us overall,” head coach Gerald Peyton said whose Indians finished 15-14 on the year. “We played some of the top teams in the state; several are still in the playoffs.”
Yazoo City hosted the opening game Friday in a

“game of two momentum swings.” After four innings, the Indians had a commanding 5-1 lead after a grand slam by Sam Campbell, only to be shutout offensively down the stretch as Hernando scored nine unanswered runs to earn the tough win on the road.

Rob Felton took the loss after relieving Demarcus Mahone in the fifth inning.

“We just did not hit the ball well and had a defensive lapse in the fifth inning,” Peyton said. “This was the first time several of our players have played in a playoff game. I guess you can call it inexperience.”
