Scars remain from a battle for his life that Korik Sheets doesn’t even remember.
For him the fight is over, but those scars help the young cancer survivor empathize with others facing the struggle. On Saturday he decided to do something to help.
Sheets, a sixth grade student at Bentonia-Gibbs Elementary, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when he was just four months old.
“They found a tumor about the size of a grapefruit,” said his mother, LayShia Sheets Menk.
After three months of chemotherapy and three surgeries, Korik was finally in remission. He remains cancer-free today, but still feels some effects from the treatment.
