Kassia Rudd, the granddaughter of Yazoo native Barbara Overton Gates and the late Willie Elmo Gates Sr., has been awarded a Fullbright Scholarship.
Kassia is also the great granddaughter of the late Mary and J.B. Overton, who were also natives and lifetime members of the Yazoo community. Her parents, Michelle Gates Rudd and Kevin Rudd, live in Portland, Ore.
