Deputy saves escaped prisoner’s life
By JASON PATTERSON
If a group of deputies hadn’t been in the mood for catfish for lunch, one escaped prisoner probably wouldn’t be alive.
Officers from the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department were returning from lunch at Riverbend Catfish House when they noticed a man struggling in the Yazoo River cutoff in Jonestown.
Deputy Britt Johnson jumped into the water and tossed a life preserver to the drowning man. Other officers then pulled in Johnson and the drowning man with a rope.
