WINNIE RAINEY
Winnie Quay Griffin Rainey, 80, of Mendenhall, died, Saturday, April 2, 2011 at her home in Mendenhall.
Funeral services were Tuesday at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee. Burial followed at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Raleigh.
Mrs. Rainey is preceded in death by her parents, John Melvin and Janie V. Luckey Griffin; husband, Henry R Rainey; and sisters, Lee Ray Thornton and Hazel Gaye Griffin.
Survivors include her daughters, Gaye Spradley of Mendenhall, Ruth Dykes (Randall) of Laurel and Faye Branum (Lee) of Yazoo City sister; Dewey Faye Pledger of Laurel; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
DURWOOD TEASTER
Durwood Teaster, 95, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Visitation is 10 -11 a.m. Friday at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Graveside services are following at 2 p.m. Friday in Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City with Dr. Stan Buckley officiating.
Mr. Teaster was born in Benton on June 17, 1915 to William Joseph and Maude Pilgrim Teaster. He was a member of Balboa Baptist Church in Hot Springs Village, Ark. He had a love for baseball and gardening, especially growing tomatoes. He had a special love for people, and he touched so many lives.
His wife, Mamie Hudson Teaster, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughters, Carolyn Teaster Caldwell (Everett) of Dallas, Texas and Nancy Teaster Richards (Morris) of Brandon; son, Tommy Teaster (Deana) of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; brother, Marion Luther Teaster of Yulee, Fla.; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are Jim Richards, Kenny Teaster, Tommy Paterson, James Lloyd Teaster, Lynwood David Teaster, Skip Teaster and Wayne Teaster. Honorary pallbearers are James Dickson, Buck Guthrie, Robert Jackson, Joe Giompoletti and Jim King.
