Mavericks streak snapped at three, fall to 3-1 in district play

Manchester Academy’s three-game winning streak was snapped this past week after dropping back-to-back games. First to district rival Winston 7-1 on the road Thursday then falling 12-9 to Leake at home.

After a three-game sweep of Oak Hill, the Mavericks (9-8) were handed their first district loss. Manchester were held to just three hits in the ball game and their lone run came in the fifth inning off of head up base running.

Will Stonestreet (3-2) earned the loss after pitching 5.1 innings, giving up four runs on five hits. He also finished with two strikeouts.

Friday, the Mavericks went to the bullpen and used five pitchers but still came up short as they dropped a heartbreaker to Leake for the third time this season.
