GREENWOOD – Yazoo County was just one strike away from moving up to second in their district.

A bloop single by Greenwood with a runner on first scored the game tying run and eventually led to the game winning run as the Panthers fell on the road 6-5.

It was the first of three straight losses for Yazoo County, including a pair at the Yazoo City Invitational.

“Friday night was a heartbreaker,” Panthers head coach Corbin Ellis said. “We played the best ball we have played all year.  These kids gave their heart and soul for this game.”

The visiting Panthers were clinging to a four run lead after four complete innings before the Bulldogs rallied for a trio of runs to tie the game at 4-4.
