Manchester Academy combined for three homeruns, including two in the first to cap off a 15-5 win over Oak Hill Tuesday to start conference action.
The Mavericks (7-6), bounced back from a tough 11-4 road loss to Tri-County the night before.
Down two runs in the first inning, the Mavericks tied the game with a two-run homerun by Ben Fouche. A few batters later, Robert Hutton gave the Mavericks the lead with another two run bomb, his first of two on the day. His second came in the third inning to give Manchester a commanding 6-2 lead.
The Mavericks would go on to score nine more runs, including seven in the fifth to pick up their conference opener.
“It’s a big win for us to get the conference opener, especially at home,” head coach AJ Downs. “Now we’re going to have a test with a double header on the road. Three wins would really help us out.”-------for the rest of the story see The Yazoo Herald printed edition or subscribe to the Digital Edition.----------
