Indians top Canton, earn first district win

By DAN HAWTHORNE
Sports Editor

CANTON – Yazoo City quickly shrugged off a second place finish in the Riverside tournament by taking out their frustrations in district play, downing Canton 9-3 on the road Tuesday night despite the absence of several regular starters.
The Indians, who never trailed in the ball game, scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning for an early lead. Canton cut the deficit to one in the third as their defense kept the Indians quiet until the fifth inning stretching their lead 3-1.-------for the rest of the story see The Yazoo Herald printed edition or subscribe to the Digital Edition.----------
