Senior Matt Peaster will play for the North in the MAIS All-Star game.Senior Matt Peaster will play for the North in the MAIS All-Star game.JACKSON – Matt Peaster can add another accomplishment to his athletic resume this afternoon when he takes part in the 2011 MAIS North AA-AAA All-Star game at A.E. Wood Coliseum at Mississippi College.
Peaster, the 2010 All-Herald MVP on the football field, earned All-Star honors back in December representing the North. The last Maverick to accomplish the feat was David Adams in 1997.
The senior averaged 18 points, three boards and two assists a game while turning an enforcer on defense with four steals a night.
“It’s a great honor for Matt to be selected to the all-star game,” said first year head coach Mark Alexander who led the Mavericks to a 16-12 record and a regular season district championship.
“He had a very good season; we wouldn’t have had the season we had without him.”
Manchester at one point was riding an eight game winning streak and had won 12 of 15 games during a late season run. Tip-off is set for 4:30 pm.
