Panthers fall in season opener
Yazoo County pitcher Tyler George did all he could at the plate and on the mound in the Panthers loss to Riverside.Yazoo County had two bad innings. That and fielding 11 errors on the day proved to be the difference as the Panthers dropped their season-opener 16-2 to Riverside on Saturday.
“Youth and inexperience cost us on Saturday,” Panthers head coach Corbin Ellis said. The team lost 17 players from last season. “We are going to experience some growing pains throughout the year but we will get better.”
Freshman pitcher Tyler George, (0-1) gave up five hits and two earned runs in just four innings of work on the mound. He also struck out three opposing batters.
