Rev. Trey Henry is following in the footsteps of his father as the new minister of the Yazoo City Church of Christ.
He and his family joined the Yazoo church over a month ago, and he is very excited about bringing his perspective to the congregation and the community.
“My primary hopes are to help keep the good news of Jesus’ loving sacrifice central to the life of the church and to share that good news,” Henry said.
Before arriving in Yazoo City, Henry worked with the Church of Christ in the Army town of Leesville, La., which is located near Fort Polk. However, the Henry family had made many travels around the world with their missionary work prior to their arrival in Louisiana.

An inmate who escaped from the Yazoo County Jail was found hiding in the attic of a Jackson home Saturday.
Eric Williams, 24, was hiding in a vacant home at 214 Lindsey Street in Jackson.
Sheriff Jake Sheriff and Chief Deputy Joseph Head joined forces with officers from the Jackson Police Department to make the arrest. Sheriff received an anonymous tip that Williams was hiding in the house.

City leaders plan to revisit the ordinance concerning the hours and sale of alcohol within local nightclubs.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen has not expressed any desire to amend the current ordinance, but they want to eradicate all confusion surrounding the controversial codes.

The Yazoo Community Complex was opened to a group of enthusiastic community leaders Friday.
A ribbon cutting ceremony and official grand opening was held at the local complex, located at the former Yazoo City Junior High School.
City and county officials, school representatives and other community leaders took a tour of the renovated facility and learned of the many projects and programs in the works.
“There were quite a few influential people present at the ribbon cutting ceremony,” said Alderman Aubry Brent Jr. during the city board meeting this week. “I heard a lot of positive comments from the people who saw the building. People were excited about it.”
