By JAMIE PATTERSON
Managing Editor

The Yazoo City Post Office is asking for the public’s assistance to deter criminals from vandalizing the local branch after hours.
There have been recent reports of post office boxes being vandalized or broken into after workers leave for the evening.
The police department has agreed to patrol the area more closely, but post office officials are asking the public to also keep a watchful eye in the area.
Officials hope to keep criminals away from the branch. But if the criminal acts continue, the lobby will be closed at 5:30 p.m. and remain closed until the next business day.

“We're moving full blast into the adjustment of the utilities,” Morrison told PSC commissioners during their monthly meeting. “We took down some trees the other day on the east end that were in conflict with a four-inch gas main that has to be relocated by Atmos Energy.”
