Dixie Youth Baseball has been an American staple for generations.
For years, it has dominated the youth athletic scene in Yazoo City, but recently a new competitor to America’s pastime has risen: Dixie Softball.
Dixie Softball was founded in 1968 in the small town of Minor, Ala., and was expanded throughout the south in 1975.
Up until 2008, Yazoo City’s softball league was purely community driven. Local teams played each other weekly until a champion was crowned.
But all of that changed in 2008.
Second year Yazoo City Softball League Commissioner Mark Williams had the league franchised with Dixie Softball. The franchisement meant one thing – expansion.
