When Veda Garner was only a week old, she underwent her first of three open heart surgeries.
She has spent her entire young life in various hospital wards, battling two different congenital heart defects.
But she is a fighter and amazes all with her incredible strength.
And despite all the obstacles and challenges, her mother Morgan Garner looks at her and sees total perfection.
“She is such an amazing baby,” Morgan said. “She has taught me so much about what it means to really love someone more than yourself.”
Morgan, a Yazoo City native,  has stayed by Veda’s side for over 100 days as she continues to recover in a Tennessee hospital. Veda has yet to see her family home but has  remained in a multitude of hospital wards and units since her birth in January.

The only thing Trustee Truvander Kennedy was able to say following Staples' five-minute speech was, “Does anyone know what 'insanity' is?” as other officials said any further response from her would be inappropriate. Prior to Kennedy's remarks, Staples had placed the blame for the community's troubles on past city school boards.
