Christians can’t always expect people to seek the word of God. Sometimes they have to take it to the people.
Evangelist Elizabeth Davidson understands the challenges that come at times with attracting visitors to church.
Many are unsure of what to expect. Some are often embarrassed or filled with guilt. A few even believe they are wasting their time within the sanctuary of a church and its fellowship.

Jury finds Carson not guilty in murder trial

A jury found a Yazoo  man accused of capital murder not guilty Thursday.
Ronnell Carson, 21, was first charged with murder in March of 2010 after he was linked to the shooting of Benjamin Reed, 25.
Reed’s body was discovered in a field near West Second Street  with a single gunshot wound to the back of the head.
Following a brief chase from authorities, Carson was arrested shortly after the murder.
Carson’s defense was that he accidentally shot Reed. No other information was available by press time.

 

Compromise reached on school budget

After weeks of discussion, city and school officials seem to have reached a compromise with the school district’s upcoming budget.
But it will likely require a tax increase.
During a special called meeting with the Board of Mayor and Aldermen, city leaders agreed to accept the school district’s latest proposal. With a $200,000 cap on the school district receiving free utilities, the proposed budget could mean a 1.9 millage increase.
