One of the main arteries through Yazoo City continues to boom during tough, economic times.
Fifteenth Street has always been a well-traveled roadway through town. But with recent construction of new establishments and landmark businesses still thriving, the street has become a hub of commerce and activity.
“This is one of the busiest streets in town,” said Tara Woods, with Simple Girls Boutique and Gift Shop Too!. “Nobody realizes how much traffic or how many people in town come through here.”
Fifteenth Street has just about everything one could want down its busy corridor. From grocery stores to gift shops to department stores to florists, there is an abundance of commerce in the area. One could get a haircut and pick up a snow cone for the kids within minutes. One can leave the doctor’s office and pick up some paper goods for that last-minute party. A few men can leave the barber shop and pick up some hunting goods.

Her stories are forever etched upon the stones that float among her rolling hills.
And her sacred ground holds the rich history of Yazoo and the people who shaped this small community.
Glenwood Cemetery is a chest full of legends, memories and tales that continue to attract visitors and locals through her historic gates.
The local cemetery was recently voted the “second spookiest cemetery” in the United States. But many Yazoo children already knew that with their childhood journeys beyond Glenwood’s entrance during the late evening hours.
But the stories within her gates are more than just ghost stories to appeal to visitors. The true characters in their final resting places have stories that go well beyond the chains of a legendary witch.
Glenwood holds the story of Yazoo.
