Few complaints made about city budget

With five people in the audience, the school district was the main concern during Yazoo City’ s public hearing of its proposed budget Wednesday afternoon.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen will soon set the tax levy based on the request from the Yazoo City Municipal School District.
Based on the school district’s request, there will be a 1.9 millage increase.

Resident says his property passed inspection

A Yazoo City resident says he was surprised to hear city officials discussing his property last week.
Buck McGough, owner of a home located at 604 E. Broadway, said he has done everything the city asked him to do after complaints about the condition of his property.
McGough said the former building inspector approved the repairs he made to the home.

County Schools to offer “abstinence plus” class

Some of Yazoo County's seventh graders are about to learn about “the birds and the bees,” but it won't be from Mom and Dad.
Beginning this school year, students will be given opportunities to learn all about pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections at school.

Police investigate Tuesday morning robbery

An outbreak of armed robberies continue across Yazoo City as another local store clerk was robbed at gunpoint.
Chief Eric Snow said the Quick and Easy Convenience Store on Broadway was robbed by two suspects Tuesday around 9 a.m.
