Shifting Yazoo clay has made for a rough ride on Old Highway 3 for years, but some residents say man made problems are just as bad these days.

Yazoo City’s weather warning system is functioning properly, but there may be some weaknesses in the coverage area.
Many citizens have voiced concerns over the weather sirens located at various locations within the community. Some have said a few don’t even work at all, while others claim they are barely audible.
Minor Norman, a representative with the  company that maintains the city’s storm sirens, told city leaders last week that all the city’s problems come down to technical concerns.

The Yazoo City Post Office is asking for the public’s assistance to deter criminals from vandalizing the local branch after hours.
There have been recent reports of post office boxes being vandalized or broken into after workers leave for the evening.
The police department has agreed to patrol the area more closely, but post office officials are asking the public to also keep a watchful eye in the area.
Officials hope to keep criminals away from the branch. But if the criminal acts continue, the lobby will be closed at 5:30 p.m. and remain closed until the next business day.
