Following a melee on the basketball courts at the Wardell Leach Recreational Complex this week, the goals have been removed until further notice.
The recent incident was the latest of a number of problems caused by an unruly group at the park. Frustrated with the constant gambling, profanity, fights and disrespectful behavior, recreation director Henry “Jughead” Campbell removed the basketball goals in an effort to restore order at the local complex.

Vandals plague Post Office

By JAMIE PATTERSON
Managing Editor

The Yazoo City Post Office is asking for the public’s assistance to deter criminals from vandalizing the local branch after hours.
There have been recent reports of post office boxes being vandalized or broken into after workers leave for the evening.
The police department has agreed to patrol the area more closely, but post office officials are asking the public to also keep a watchful eye in the area.
Officials hope to keep criminals away from the branch. But if the criminal acts continue, the lobby will be closed at 5:30 p.m. and remain closed until the next business day.
