Authorities say “accident” was really murder

Investigators immediately knew that this was no bicycle accident.
The Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to a report of an accident at the intersection of Big Martin Road Monday in which a bicyclist had reportedly been struck by an automobile.
Ranel Moore, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene. Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said Moore’s body was found on the shoulder of the road at the intersection.

Severe weather causes damage

At least one home was severely damaged from severe weather that passed through Yazoo County late Wednesday night.
A mobile home on Myrleville Road was heavily damaged with owners Michael and Miriam Whatley inside at the time of the storm.

Infant’s death investigated as a homicide

After clinging to life for nearly four days, a Yazoo County infant died from internal head injuries.
The incident is being investigated by the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department as a homicide.
Kylie Jennings, 1, died Saturday afternoon at Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson.

County man’s death flagged as foul play

A murder investigation continues after a body was discovered in the Bentonia area Monday afternoon.
Ranel Moore, 49, of Wilson Road in Bentonia, was pronounced dead after his body was discovered at the intersection of Big Mound Road and Martin Road.
