City needs a street sweeper

City leaders are looking into the possibility of purchasing a new street sweeper to ensure a cleaner community.
Although the city is currently working with new garbage trucks, the street sweeper has given the street department many headaches with its constant maintenance problems.

Night of Worship a hit at Yazoo High

Over 100 people attended the community-wide Fellowship of Christian Athletes worship service this week.
The Yazoo Adult FCA Chapter held a Night of Worship at Yazoo City High School Wednesday night with students from all four local schools in attendance.
The night was filled with music, testimonies and fellowship as people from all walks of life came together to worship the Lord.

Brent says park users need to clean up their act

If the gambling and foul language don’t stop at the Wardell Leach Recreational Complex, the basketball court could be removed.
Alderman Aubry Brent Jr. told fellow city leaders Monday that the behavior frequently occurring at the local basketball court is unacceptable. Brent said if it is not eliminated, he wants the goals taken down.
Brent said the city has invested far too much in the Wardell Leach Recreational Complex for citizens to feel uncomfortable using it. Many have complained to Brent about the foul language, illegal gambling and other disturbances.

Convicted sex offender back in jail

A convicted sex offender from Yazoo County is facing new charges.
Ray Hilderbrand, 37, of 5632 Hebron Church Road, was arrested Friday.
Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said Hilderbrand is charged with soliciting a child under age 16 to perform a sexual act.
Investigators have been working on the case for weeks.
Yazoo County deputies aided Warren County investigators  and federal probation officers in making the arrest at Hilderbrand’s home. Investigators executed a search warrant on the home but haven’t revealed if anything incriminating was discovered.
