A city alderman has filed a lawsuit against the city of Yazoo City involving a recent appointment to the Public Service Commission.
Ward 3 Alderman Clifton Jones filed the suit in Chancery Court on July 9. Since then, the case has moved to Circuit Court, with the most recent filing on Oct. 19.
The suit stems from the Board of Mayor and Aldermen appointing a new member to the Public Service Commission board. Jones claims ordinances were not followed, and the board’s appointment should be declared invalid.

“I am going to get to the other side of this. I have got to do this well.”
That is what Sue White tells herself everyday. Those simple words offer her hope, encouragement and comfort.
When she was first diagnosed with breast cancer, she had no words. Cancer didn’t happen to people like her.
But now those words pull her though the darkness, and things are looking brighter.
“I really feel like we are in the third quarter of this,” she said. “And we are ahead.”
The Yazoo City native never thought she would be sharing a story about her journey with cancer. Cancer happened to other people, not her.
Her life was in order. She had a family. She had a solid job at Stub’s Restaurant, where she has been a waitress for 19 years. Everything was the way it was supposed to be.
