Until the time she retired, Mrs. Henrine Carter probably never met a student she didn’t know.
If she didn’t know a student, then there was a pretty good chance that she knew their family.
With 50 years of teaching under her belt, Mrs. Carter saw generations of Yazooans enter into her classroom. And she was the type of teacher who was never ready to see them go.
From 1931 until 1981, Mrs. Carter served the community she loved by educating thousands of children.
With a career that spanned over two decades, many teachers would be ready to retire and take it easy.
But Mrs. Carter decided to take a different route and continue her profession until she was 67 years old.
