Alderman says city must be kept cleaner

Frustrated with the lack of response from city workers, Alderman Aubry Brent Jr. said he is ready to see some action when it comes to litter and other trash within Yazoo City.
“I’m gonna get it done, with or without you,” Brent said, during the Board of Mayor and Aldermen open meeting Monday afternoon.

Felon charged with breaking into vehicle

A convicted felon was arrested after he allegedly broke into a vehicle and stole a handgun.
Kenneth Mayberry, 41, of 215 Walnut Circle, was charged with grand larceny of an automobile, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a stolen firearm.
Maj. Tilmon Clifton said Mayberry was inside a bar on Broadway when a woman noticed he held her car keys in his hand.

The smell of marijuana was in the air, and the passenger had cocaine powder on her clothes.
It was immediately evident to officers that they would be making a drug arrest, but they were surprised to discover how many drugs were on board.

The investigation continues as to why a window of a police patrol car was busted Wednesday.
Chief Eric Snow said an officer was traveling down Dr. Martin Luther King Drive when the back rear window of his patrol car was suddenly busted.
