Sales of guns and ammunition have skyrocketed following the president’s proposals on gun control.
Many people waited over an hour to get inside the gun show at the Trademart in Jackson. Sales have also increased dramatically here in Yazoo City.
“I’ve never seen anything like it,” said Sean King, at Delta Ace Hardware. “This is the first time we’ve every experienced all of our suppliers being out of certain kinds of ammunition.”

Sixty-seven ugly women will be a beautiful sight for friends of Delphene Dees on Feb. 9.
A benefit for Dees, who is battling cancer, has drawn tremendous support from the community.
The Miss Yazoo Womenless Beauty Pageant is set for Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Yazoo Community Complex next to the Boy’s & Girls Club.

Farmer’s Market coming to Main Street in Yazoo

Fresh produce, sweet honey, juicy fruit and vibrant flowers are just a few of the things that will be found at the upcoming Yazoo Farmers’ Market.
Phyllis Haynes, with Main Street Antiques, has been tossing the idea of a local market for a couple of years. And it seems as if everything is falling into place for the new venture.
“This will really help the small farmers in the county,” Haynes said. “It will also help the economy of our town.”

Pair charged with shooting into a home

Officers were able to quickly arrest two suspects after they allegedly fired into a home on Oakwood Drive.
Robert Fisher and Zachery Burnside were both charged with aggravated assault.
Capt. Willie Hubbard said no one was injured during the shooting.
“Officers were dispatched to a call that the suspects were shooting at several people standing on the porch of the home,” Hubbard said. “Witnesses then told officers the shooters left in a tan Cadillac.”
